International Bluegrass Music Association nominees for Emerging Artists and Instrumental Performance of the Year in 2018 and winner of the IBMA Momentum award in 2017, MILE TWELVE is finding enthusiastic audiences across the globe. Acclaimed for their outstanding musicality, this five-piece band from Boston has put together a sound that honors traditions while giving them new heart and soul through the groups songwriting and outstanding musicality.
The Mile Twelve lineup includes five of the most promising young musicians in bluegrass: David Benedict (mandolin), Catherine BB Bowness (banjo), Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Evan Murphy (guitar, lead vocals), and Nate Sabat (bass, lead vocals). Original bluegrass music, written and played by young people, is very much alive, says band member Evan Murphy, about their newest album, City on a Hill. I hope people take away that songwriting and arranging really matter. Its about the material and playing it in a way that feels honest. All five band members bring their own influences and observations into the music, resulting in a recording that feels contemporary, thoughtfully crafted, and relevant.
This will be fantastic night of music at the Grange. Tickets: $12 in advance; $15 at the door. $5 under 18.
