Manslaughter
Featurning a cast boasting some of the most honored actors in Scandinavian cinema, Manslaughter completes Per Fly's celebrated class structure trilogy begun with 2000's The Bench and 2003's Inheritance. Turning his attention to the Danish middle class, Fly follows bored secondary school teacher Carsten, a burned-out activist who gets his only enjoyment from time spent with his radical student/ lover Pil. When one of Pil's political protests goes horribly awry, she turns to Carsten for protection from the authorities. Forced out of his complacency by circumstances beyond his control, Carsten must decide whether he can reconcile the man he once was with the man he has become. Hinging on a riveting performance by the great Jesper Christensen, Manslaughter cements Fly's place among modern Scandinavia's finest directors.
