Taylor O'Donnell & Jed Wilson; Winter Solstice Celebration.
Taylor O'Donnell & Jed Wilson; Winter Solstice Celebration. The Dance Hall proudly presents vocalist, Taylor O'Donnell and Jed Wilson for an evening of sound exploration. Joined by one of the finest pianists and accompanists in New England, Jed Wilson (Dominique Eade, Aoife ODonovan, Heather Masse of the Wailing Jennys, Prairie Home Companion), ODonnell has curated an evening of improvised song, jazz, and folk music to celebrate the winter solstice and ring in the new year. Weaving in and out of selections from the Great American Songbook, the works of Joni Mitchell, original compositions, and more, the duo pays tribute to the elements and welcomes the darkest day of the year with a little light.
Jed Wilson: New England-based pianist Jed Wilson is a versatile performer, equally at home in the disparate worlds of jazz, free improvisation, and folk music. As an accompanist, Wilson is best known for a long-term collaboration with singer-songwriter Heather Masse, with whom he has toured widely (including making multiple appearances on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion). Additionally, he has performed with Aoife O'Donovan, Taylor O'Donnell, Dominique Eade, and Rushad Eggleston. He also co-leads an innovative world music project with Dave Kobrenski. Wilsons solo piano EP of original compositions and free improvisations, Nocturnes, is now available.
Taylor ODonnell Known for her use of vocal improvisation and variety of vocal textures in her musical stylings, Taylor ODonnell is a contemporary vocalist and conductor who uses her roots in R&B, folk, jazz, and classical music to communicate much of her musical dialogue.
Currently, she teaches in the Voice Department at Berklee College of Music, and teaches jazz voice and directs the Vocal Jazz Ensembles at the University of Southern Maine. Highlights of Tylors performing career have been an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show working with producer David Foster, performing at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in NYC, working in Miami with Grammy award winning producer Rudy Perez, and singing background vocals for singer-songwriter Ben Folds. Past projects include OURBIGBAND with guest artists Dave Douglas and Matt Ulery, the retro-soul band, Mother Superior & The Sliding Royales, and was seen as the Guest Artist-in-Residence with the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra throughout the 2016-2017 season. Taylor can be seen performing with the vocal group Vintage Vocal Quartet, the electronic duo Novel/Novella, and as a soloist with Jed Wilson and Mike Effenberger in the Seacoast and Portland areas.
