As part of its 2019-2020 season, Gainesville's Magnolia Roots Music (MRM) will host a workshop for musicians by singer/songwriter/fiddler Phoebe Hunt (phoebehuntmusic.com), and her duo partner and mandolinist Dominic Leslie (Hunt and Leslie also will be performing as a duo in Gainesville the previous evening; see information below).
Named one of the Top 10 New Country Artists you Need to Know by Rolling Stone Country, Phoebe Hunt is an accomplished Americana instrumentalist with foundations in jazz and swing music. Phoebe merges her Appalachian-style fiddle chops with Texas twang, Indian ragas, gypsy jazz, and the free-spirited fun of a jam bandleader. Her superb band, Phoebe Hunt and the Gatherers, has been drawing widespread acclaim. "Hunt merges her Appalachian-style fiddle chops with Texas twang, Indian ragas, gypsy jazz, and the free-spirited fun of a jam band leader.'This is what American music truly is. Its what America is based upon: the willingness to have an open heart, an open mind and to learn from everyone'."
