Selwyn Birchwood With his fiery guitar and lap steel playing, his trailblazing, instantly memorable songs and gritty, unvarnished vocals, Selwyn Birchwood is among the most extraordinary young stars in the blues. His deep familiarity with blues tradition allows him to bust the genre wide open, adding new sounds, colors and textures, all delivered with a revival tent preachers fervor and a natural storytellers charisma. Since the 2014 release of his Alligator Records debut, Dont Call No Ambulance, Birchwoods meteoric rise from playing small Florida clubs to headlining international festival stages is nothing short of phenomenal, as he continues to set the contemporary blues world on fire. The album received the Blues Music Award and Living Blues Critics Award for Best Debut Album Of 2014, and he won the 2015 Blues Blast Rising Star Award. Selwyn and his band have crisscrossed the U.S. and Europe repeatedly, delivering unforgettable live performances.
Joey Gilmore Florida legend Joey Gilmore is a distinguished figure in the world of blues and soul. Hes played at festivals and venues all over the world, sharing the stage with greats such as James Brown, Etta James, Johnny Taylor, and Bobby Bland, among others. In 2006, Gilmore won the IBC, the most distinguished and internationally coveted award in all of blues. This is just one of many awards and honors bestowed upon Gilmore.
As a teen he began his love affair with the guitar, learning from a local barbershop owner who was also a preacher. The ministers electric guitar fascinated Gilmore and he would hang around the shop just to get his hands on the guitar. After learning through observation and practice, Gilmores talent would shine. Decades later, hes well established and still getting better.
Lutalo 'Sweet Lu' Olotusin Jazz recording artist Lutalo Sweet Lu Olutosin has had an inspired career that is propelled by a mission to share his God-given talent with the world. Born in Gary Indiana, Sweet Lu grew up in a large, loving family. The family would move from Indiana to the deep south, where Lu would spend his adolescence in Mississippi. With gospel, blues, and jazz serving as the foundation for his musical expression, the masterful lyricist is known to put on a lively show that includes silky dance moves to complement his vocals. In 2015, Sweet Lu was hand-picked to headline the 2015 Kennedy Center Jazz Performance Series thanks to his fresh approach to soul jazz. He has also played at the Teatro Rendano in Cosenza, Italy, as well as the Atlanta Jazz Festival, among many other events and venues.
Cory Wallace Born in a city known for its rich musical heritage, Cory Wallace began his life in New Orleans, Louisiana. His musical genesis began at age 8, singing at local churches and talent shows. He was heavily influenced by acts like Boyz II Men, Johnny Gill, and Brian McKnight, among many others. As a teenager he sang in a group known as The Men of Intimacy, opening for Biz Markie, Buster Rhymes, and even had the honor of performing on Showtime At The Apollo.
The next chapter for Corys musical journey took place in Miami, Florida as he embarked on a solo career. He experienced success with a single hitting heavy rotation on Hot105FM and he was honored to open for several influential artists including his idol Brian McKnight. His endearing smile, soulful sound, and charisma create a rich musical experience.
