Share this event:

Kate MacLeod and Kat Eggleston will join voices for The Seattle Folkore Society. In a rare chance to hear this stunning duo, you will hear two of our most accomplished folk musicians in a performance where their charm and musicality transform into a sum greater than its parts. Their extraordinary collaboration includes their own contemporary songwriting, instrumental pieces, and authentic renditions of traditional music.

The artists were introduced to each other through their affiliation with Waterbug Records and first began performing together in 1999 on a double-billed concert tour in Europe. By the end of the tour they had become a duo, backing up each others work as if they had been doing it all their lives. They since have published two full-length recordings, Drawn from the Well and Lost and Found. Kate is featured on vocals, fiddle, and acoustic guitar. Kat is featured on vocals, hammered dulcimer and acoustic guitar.

Kate MacLeod has recently been awarded Best of the West 2019 by the Far-West division of the Folk Alliance International, and her songwriting and composing has garnished her many awards through the years. Her original songs have been sung and recorded by other artists from California to the Czech Republic, and she is a sought after performer, studio musician, and instructor. Kate is a master fiddle player of several traditional genres.

Kat Eggleston is an artist of great range who has elated and inspired audiences all over the world with her strong, clear voice, her masterful fingerstyle guitar technique, her research and interpretation of traditional music, and her powerful original songs. She has collaborated onstage and in recordings with a variety of musicians over the years, including David Bromberg, Tom Dundee, Irish music supergroups Bohola and the David Munnelly band, to name a few. Kat is currently developing her music and narrative play production The Cyclone Line, based on her fathers experiences and stories of growing up in the midwest during the Dustbowl era.
