Democrats Abroad Film Series 'The Farewell'
Written as a comedy-drama by Lulu Wang, this film is about the immigrant experience, family ties, and the poignant return to the homeland for a family reunion. It portrays the collision of Western and Asian cultures in a storyline that keeps the focus of the reunion (the grandmother) unaware that she will be dying shortly. Farewell may well be nominated as Best Picture for this years awards. 98 minutes.
