Jury Duty and Bijan Taghavi Jared Beckstead-Craan Duo
Jury Duty: Featuring Guitarist Ian Thompson, Pianist Eric Banitt, Bassist Reuben Stump, and Drummer Mitchell Dangler. Jury Duty is a group of Sophomores in the University of Michigan Jazz Studies Program who plays standards and originals and have been performing in the Ann Arbor area.
Bijan Taghavi is a Persian-American pianist, composer, and educator based in NYC. Well-versed in many styles, Bijan has performed with saxophonist Joe Lovano, Grammy artist Nestor Torres, Metropolitan Opera singer Eric Jordan, and as soloist with the South Coast Symphony. Also a sought-after composer/arranger, Bijan has a body of work for studio orchestra, big band, string quartet, and more.
Furthermore, Bijan is very involved as an educator for JazzPianoSchool.com having written over twenty articles and produced instructional videos for their Artist Highlight and Gig Analysis series. A recipient of the Presser Foundation Scholarship, Bijan earned his Bachelor Degree in Jazz Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and has studied with Phil Markowitz and Fred Hersch. Bijan recently performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Blue Note Amsterdam, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Apollo Theatre and toured Japan with his trio in December 2018. www.BijanJazz.com
