Soul Trek: My Sci-Fi Journey Toward Wholeness
SOUL TREK: MY SCI-FI JOURNEY TOWARD WHOLENESS is a one woman show written and performed by Margaret Mendenhall, directed by Christi Pedigo, set to have its world premiere in the largest solo theatre festival on the West Coast, Whitefire Theatres Solofest 2020.
Picture if you will, a woman enters a therapists office only to encounter not only two conflicting internal voices, but characters, both human and alien, from Star Trek, including, a wise tribble, and Carl Jung himself! Incorporating music, multimedia and humor Margaret, whimsically explores how the stories of Star Trek are reflected her life, and why the series speaks so deeply to viewers and invokes such passions among is fans.
This is Margaret Mendenhalls second solo show, her first, DANCING TO THE EDGE OF A CLIFF: A MUSICAL MYTHOLOGICAL JOURNEY TOWARD SELF-ACCEPTANCE, directed by and developed with Jessica Lynn Johnson, premiered last year at Solofest 2019 and then went on to be performed in the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival. She has previously performed in childrens theatre and for two years was a member of an improv troupe. Margaret has also written an unproduced one act play set on Mars, hosted and produced the public access television show, Myth Is All Around Us, available at padnet.tv, and has presented academic papers at conferences throughout the country on topics such as Star Trek, Game of Thrones and the representation of the feminine in the arts.
Christi Pedigo (Director) graduated from Santa Clara University with a BA in Theatre Arts. Theatre Directing Credits Include: Juvie, The Long Christmas Dinner, MacBeth, and Oliver. She is in the core improv program at The Groundlings and recently studied at Leslie Kahn Studios. Christis acting credits include: Off-Broadway in Girls Town at Players Theatre (NYC) and Golden Ladder at Actors Playhouse (NYC). She won an OOBR (Off-Off Broadway Review) Award for her performance as Brooke Ashton in Noises Off at the Gallery Players of Park Slope (NYC). She had a lead role in the award-winning independent film Film School Confidential. In LA, Christi formed She Did It Productions and has written, directed, and starred in several short films and web series on YouTube.com/c/ChristiPedigo and Amazon Prime Video including Simulations, Are We Rolling, Mommy's 15 Seconds, and Bunny the Elf. Christi produced, wrote, and starred in her own one woman award winning holiday show Bunny the Elf LIVE! that has toured theatres in LA and Fullerton since 2018.
