EARPLAY: Earthly Luminosities
Preconcert talk at 6:45 p.m. Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at the door
Earplays second main stage concert of Season 35, Earthly Luminosities, will take place in the Taube Atrium of the Wilsey Opera Center. In addition to Saariahos glistening piano trio Light and Matter, the March 30 concert will feature a world premiere by Bay Area composer Josiah Catalan and US premieres of pieces by Greek, London-based composer Haris Kittos (a former Aird Prize finalist) and American ex-pat and Mexican resident Brian R. Banks, as well as a duo by American composer George Walker in honor his 2018 passing. Concert Two is often our most eclectic of the Main Stage series, and this seasons programming continues the tradition. Call it a dust-up of celestial and earthly rumbles: from the aphoristic miniatures of Brian R. Banks string trio Bonzai Garden VII to the elegant jazzy modernism of George Walkers Perimeters, from the subterranean grumbles and off kilter avian chirps of Haris Kittos mixed quartet Dyades to the pulsing and spectral shimmers of Josiah Catalans duo for flute and viola, there will be something for all ears.
