The Ed Haynes Show's End of Year Reckoning
I am very delighted to bring my annual End of Year Reckoning show back to Artichoke Café for the fourth straight year. Well have plenty to cover for 2019. Using songs, guitar-playing, stories, and interpretive dance, Ill attempt to make sense of the insensible, Ill strive to provide darkly humorous entertainment for our so-very-troubled times, and Ill aim to cleanse the palate for the coming year. With special guests and surprises!

Ed Haynes, a flat-picking rock&roll folk-comic songwriter, recorded his debut album at age 24 in 1988 and toured extensively throughout the US, Canada and England. A video of one of the songs garnered brief exposure on MTV. In a review of the album People Magazine called Ed extremely interesting and said If somebody decides to produce a TV series called Twentysomething, he can write the theme song. He continued to perform in and around San Francisco, recorded two more albums, got married, and then relocated to Portland, OR in 2002. There he recorded an album Snacking with a Vengeance, of which the Oregonian said Haynes penchant for the peculiar works in tandem with an emotional honesty that allows many of his songs to achieve a tricky balance of wit and poignancy.

A long-time bread baker, in 2007 he opened and operated Eds Bread and Submarine serving the best subs west of the eastern seaboard to the downtown Portland business community. In 2016 he debuted a one-man show entitled A Man Walks into a Bar (A comedy with songs): A series of tales spoken, sung, read, and played, all mostly honest, some even true, about family, alcohol, love, and a very tacky joke book. Hes into his third year of a residency at McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove, and performs all over Oregon and California. He is currently promoting his newest album A Man Walks into a Bar, Volume 1, which longtime Portland-based music journalist and musician SP Clarke calls an eruditely incisive, generally hilarious ten song accountof one mans journey through life
