Peggy Orenstein and Madeleine Brand on Boys and Sex
Peggy Orenstein launched a public conversation about girls and sexuality with the publication of her groundbreaking book, Girls & Sex. She covered the mixed messages of social media, the impact of porn, of hookup culture, and more. Where are the boys in the conversation? In her new book, Boys & Sex, Orenstein takes on the question of "the new masculinity," in which the terrain has been altered in recent years. She interviews young men and boys about porn as sex education, about love, intimacy, and questions of toxic masculinity and consent. How do boys navigate the new terrain of intimacy, and become better men?
We encourage parents to bring their teenagers to this event. Teenagers will be admitted at no cost.
In conversation with Madeleine Brand, host of KCRW's Press Play.
