Jingle Jazz
THERE ARE TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR
Thursday, December 12, 2019!
There's a new twist on a holiday favorite, as some of the area's most popular performers join in the holiday fun at Jingle Jazz, on Thursday, December 12 at 7:00 pm in Peninsula College's Little Theater.
"There's always great singing, but this year is different," claims Elaine Gardner-Morales, PC's Vocal Jazz instructor. She's referring to the pairing of Vocal Jazz students with guest performers Sarah Shea, Dawn Martin and Buck Ellard, and the "vocal magic" that is being created.
It all started when these guest performers conducted workshops with students during summer classes. Says Gardner-Morales, "Sarah Shea's confidence in jazz scat and Buck Ellard's authentic country approach were great song styling experiences for students, and they learned how to deliver an engaging and fun performance from Dawn Martin. These are brilliant performers, and we are so fortunate that they have shared their talents with our students."
Gardner-Morales says this year's Jingle Jazz will be an event to remember. "The practice sessions have been amazing. I've been doing this for a long time, and this is really great singing!"
Jingle Jazz wows audiences of all ages with smooth harmonies and spirited tunes perfect for the holiday season. It offers a mix of instrumental, ensemble and solo performances, and for the first time, will feature students and guests singing together. Shea will sing "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" with Hayley Corbett. Martin and Alondra Franco pair, along with the whole group, for "Somethings Gotta Hold On Me." Ellard and Brandy Wilkinson sing "Remind Me" and "Baby It's Cold Outside." The Vocal Jazz ensemble also includes: Chris Burt, Robbin Eaves, Stephen Kaufmann, Ed Lester, Patrick Singhose, Clare Wegener, and Allison Winters, who will sing a variety of tunes, including "Hit That Jive Jack" and "You Are There."
A stellar lineup of musicians will back the group, including Al Harris on piano, Terry Smith on drums, Chuck Easton on guitar, and Ted Enderle on bass.
Jingle Jazz is presented by The Olympus Group at D.A. Davidson and Sound Community Bank, and with help from the Peninsula College Foundation, supports students and the Vocal Jazz program at Peninsula College.
General admission tickets can be purchased here for $15.00. Online ticket sales will close 24 hours before this event (at 7:00 pm PST on 12/11/19). If available, tickets may also be purchased for $15.00 at the door. Proceeds benefit PCs Vocal Jazz Ensemble and PC students and programs.
Watch for PC's Vocal Jazz singers around the area, as they sing at various locations and community events, like Sherwood Village in Sequim and the tree lighting ceremony in Port Angeles.
