Women's Workshop
Womens workshops are an open and supportive creative space for women and non-binary people of all ages and experience levels.
These workshops run once a month, and they are stand-alone, so you can book one or come along every time. Each workshop is taught by a different teacher and focuses on a specific area of improvisation, and we have some exciting people lined up over the coming months!
This month's workshop is 'Movement for Improv' with Francesca Reid, takes place on Sunday 24th November from 2pm-5pm and costs £20
Have you ever felt limited in becoming characters in improv scenes, by only feeling you have access to accents and voices? Or have have you ever felt like you lack the confidence to break free of static characters/objects/animals and really want to explore the possibilities? Well come and join Francesca at this movement for improv session and have some fun while experimenting with what your body can do. You don't need to have a particular fitness level and we welcome all types of bodies to come and simply find out what yours can convey and have a tonne of fun in the process.
During the workshop you'll learn:
How to play in a more embodied way. Creating unique and physical characters, moving away from only doing talking heads scenes. Basic knowledge of how to build characters from the outside in. An introduction into the work of Laban to build character. Confidence to use your newly found skills in an improv setting with ease
You will, in the process, become: More confident At greater ease with creating authentic and instinctive characters More adept at scenes which rely more heavily on physical comedy.
