Chickenshed Players: Inclusive Theatre Classes 6 - 13+
Chickenshed's no-audition approach to creating original work using storytelling, song and movement is like nothing else in NYC. Our process focuses on each child's individual creativity and strengths; and cultivates a theatre family of peers with different backgrounds, abilities, and talents. The kids work closely with professional teaching artists to collaborate and express their ideas, resulting in high-quality theatrical work. Our philosophy fosters inclusion, compassion and kindness, resulting in a vibrant and unforgettable experience. The semester culminates in an original and joyful performance on May 2.
Why the name Chickenshed? The first show literally took place in a chicken shed in the English countryside more than 45 years ago and the name stuck! We are thrilled to offer this incredible, wait-listed program from the UK to the city of New York. At the core of Chickenshed's ethos is a promise that no child is labeled and every child is valued and included. That's the magic of Chickenshed!
