Scholars Working Group - Exhibiting Jews
Our first meeting was electrifying! Many thanks to you all! We will convene on Friday, Nov. 15, 9:30-12, at the Center for Jewish History, when two of our members will present on their museum experiences: Ed Bleiberg, Brooklyn Museum, "Iconoclasm and Identity in Ancient Egypt. Ed's recent exhibition, "Striking Power: Iconoclasm in Ancient Egypt," is reviewed here: (reviewed at net/article/artsy-editorial-egyptian-statues-broken-noses) Ena Heller, Rollins College (formerly director of MOBIA: The Museum of Biblical Art [of blessed memory]), "Reluctant Partners: Art, Religion and the Museum of Biblical Art." Ed and Ena have each had illuminating experiences within the museum environment, which shed light on our joint project in fascinating ways. Please consider how you might help in shaping our group, as we move into 2020!
