She Sings in the Light - Kaeley Stephens, Karyn Ann, Havilah, and Avery HIll
She Sings in the Light
This evening come join our voices in celebration of the season. Four female songwriters will be highlighted, hosted by Kaeley O'Leary Stephens. It will be an intimate night of heart and song scheduled early so that all ages can come out.

Kaeley is an Americana/Folk singer-songwriter based in Portland, Oregon. Her music has been described as "Uplifting music from the soul for the spirit. Kaeley is an authentic, heartfelt, beautiful new voice in today's folk music.  Her songwriting leans into many traditions and is inspired by nature and life's love and loss.  Her engaging performances make you want to sing along! Kaeleys most recent album A Dance with Me was produced by Rob Stroup in Portland, OR and released in Dec of 2018.  This album is a follow up to her debut album "Paradise" produced by longtime friend Scott Fisher which she released in 2016. Her albums take the listener on melodic journeys that stay true to the spirit and deep feelings of the songs. Kaeley's gentle, resonant voice and acoustic guitar is complemented by talented Portland artists making them albums of musicianship and heart.

Havilah is an award winning singer songwriter who has recently relocated to Bellingham, WA after an eleven year stint in the acclaimed Live Music Capital of the World Austin, TX . Her musical journey spans five full length albums and two decades weaving its way through the jazz halls of New York City, the alternative rock venues of post grunge Seattle and countless coffeeshops and theaters across the United States And Europe. Her unique brand of melodically lush, groove infused Americana is mulled in poetic lyricism born of adventure, self exploration and artistry at its most poignant. Havilah is also the founder of Holistic ArtVentures, an organization that uses songwriting as a tool for bolstering creativity and confidence in youth and preserving the oral history of our elders.

With a voice known to beguile the most inattentive bar-goer", Karyn Ann has gained notoriety as a skilled singer and songwriter, drawing comparisons to 60s troubadours like Bonnie Raitt and Carole King and modern artists like Adele and Brandi Carlile. She tours nationally, with notable appearances at the legendary Bitter End in NYC, and the Womens Redrock Music Festival alongside Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls. Her latest release "Be Loud" is an eclectic cultivation of the calm, brooding, and compassionate personas she introduced in her 2015 debut album Into the Depths, only this time around its bursting with color  from rock anthem waves to funky dance riffs to more tender and delicate moments, Be Loud paints a world arguing with itself and the observer caught in between.

Family legend has it that Avery Hill sang before she talked. Since stepping out as a songwriter in 2012, she has made a name for herself with her singular style of "story-singing", integrating stories of the past into her observations of life today. Her most recent album, Dreams & Ghosts: A Family Album (2015), which jumped to the Top 10 of all the Folk DJ lists, features songs inspired by her family's history, providing musical snapshots of different times in history, reflecting on the universal themes of growing up and being brave.
