Far and Wide with Tom Pugh
For close to twenty years, co-founder Tom Pugh has breathed life and inspiration into the Plugged In Band Program, a nonprofit rock band program for kids in metro west, teaching them both how to be rock musicians and how to give back to their community. Along the way, Tom has mentored some very fine players, four of whom will be joining him for Far and Wide with Tom Pugh, Featuring Plugged In Unplugged. On stage with Tom for this acoustic show will be Plugged In alumni singer/songwriters, Tyler Millan, Chris DAgostino, Ben Harrington and Jordan Bearak. Far and Wide with Tom Pugh at the Homegrown Coffeehouse, Saturday, November 16, at 8:00 P.M.
Tom launched Far and Wide this year. The premise is simple: In his 50 years of playing in other peoples bands, he has played many songs that he liked and had an itch to play solo, bringing his own energy and soul to the music. Now its his turn to choose. He has returned to the music he grew up with and loves, some from before he was born - and he still hasn't finished growing up. Far and Wide is an evolving collection of great music which excites and soothes and draws in listeners from the first four-bar intro. Tom was an audio engineer at WGBH for 35 years, and led the staff band, Allston Powers. He has played at Bostons Symphony Hall, the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Providence Performing Arts Center. Tom is also an annual adjunct in the Berklee guitar week Classic rock ensemble.
