On the Exhale! Live @ The Howland
The Howland Cultural Center, Beacon's unparalleled arts and entertainment venue, now celebrating its 40th Anniversary of bring the arts and entertainment to Beacon and the Hudson Valley, is pleased to present the Rhinebeck Theatre's production of Martin Zimmerman, 'On the Exhale.'
Woodstock's Maria Elena stars in this searing, one-woman drama by Martin Zimmerman, produced by the Rhinebeck Theatre Society and directed by Elle Honig. Acclaimed for her exceptional work with Performing Arts of Woodstock and Kaaterskill Actors Theater, Maurin is spellbinding as she transforms 'the woman next door' into a distressing incarnation of American violence.
Haunting, surprising and deeply troubling, On The Exhale appears disarmingly simple. Its the story of a woman, a woman who could be your next-door neighbor, whose life is upended when the epidemic of gun violence strikes home. In one sense, the play is the progression of her apprehension, horror, grief, anger and dozens of other feelings as she comes to grip with the new reality of her existence. But its more than then the progession of her reactions; its the progression of our own as well, as we join her in trying to make sense of America;s seemingly incurable fascination with firearms.
