"(Yat Work) is the best method I know of so far to be a stronger, more interesting performer and person." - Heidi Carlsen, ACT and SFSU acting teacher, CalArts MFA and Yat student.
-------------------------------------------------
At Yat/Bentley Centre for Performance we teach Yat Malmgren's System of Character Analysis.
In Drop-In sessions you'll begin to explore the foundation of what we do.
At its core, the work allows you to become unrecognizable inside a role.
Yat Work lets you experience the world through lenses you've never experienced. Lenses you didn't know existed. Like stepping into someone else's body and brain and experiencing the world completely differently.
There's depth of character work.
The strength of the American acting tradition is using the truth of who we are as the foundation.
Yat Work teaches you to go further. You become familiar with and develop aspects of yourself with which you're not familiar. Either you've lost touch with them or you don't realize they're there.
You can experience this in Drop-In Sessions.
We have an inner life and an outer life. Yat work is the negotiation between the two.
Both must be playable in character work. Yat Work inspires a whole new set of possibilities.
You'll get a glimpse of this in Drop-In Sessions.
Parts of yourself you haven't been using will become free and available to you.
Because suddenly there's something unknown at your fingertips. Those are incredible moments to experience. You'll watch it happen to other artists in the room.
This too can begin to happen for you in Drop-In Sessions.
It doesn't matter if you're just beginning or have a resume of major credits.
We've trained people like you. The work meets you where you are. Right now.
Our work is vital, muscular, deep, and artistically freeing.
If you're ready to take risks and dive in.
If you're willing to use all parts of yourself.
If you'd like to know more about what we do,
We'd LOVE to meet you.
If you want a life punctuated with wonder and discovery, vital artistic expression and a willingness to dig deep, YOU BELONG WITH US HERE AT YBC.
Some actors trained in this work
Oscar winners Anthony Hopkins, Cate Blanchett, Sean Connery, Colin Firth, and Oscar/Emmy/SAG award nominees Tom Hardy ("Mad Max" and "Dark Knight"), Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones"), and Michael Fassbender ("X-Men"), among many, many others.
