2019 LIS LIGHTHOUSE CONFERENCE
All area lighthouse lovers & stakeholders are invited to attend the 3rd biennial Long Island Sound Lighthouse Conference on Sunday, November 10, 2019, hosted by the New London Maritime Society in New London, Connecticut. The meeting will include presentations from USCG BMCS J. E. Reeve,Officer in Charge,Aids to Navigation Team,Long Island Sound; Ted Webb, who recently secured a $1.5m federal grant for Plum Island Light; Bob Muller, author and head of the USLHS Long Island Chapter; Wade R. Goria, Historian/ Lecturer at the National Lighthouse Museum of Staten Island, NY; and special guest,Randy Polumbo, the owner of Orient Point Light, among others.
This end-of-season gathering provides an opportunity for lighthouse stakeholders to network and catch up on lighthouse news on Long Island Sound. One goal is to begin planning for 2020 -- either choosing a shared date for activities at individual lighthouses or developing a cooperative event to bring attention to LIS lighthouses (along the lines of the 'Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey' or 'Maine Lighthouse Day').
The fee covers refreshments, only.
Please contact Susan at nlmaritimedirector@gmail.com if you would like to speak about your lighthouse at the event.
