Ronin
When an international team of former intelligence agents and Cold War warriors meet in a warehouse, their adventure of love, friendship and betrayal has just begun. Like the honored masterless Samurai of hundreds of years ago, these modern day Ronin are embarking on their final covert mission -- to recover a mysterious briefcase for an unknown employer and to stay alive.
"I like to think of Ronin as the last great action movie of the 20th century: an analog masterpiece that uses sweaty, flesh-and-blood actors and virtuoso rubber-on-concrete choreography (including the best car chases in any 1990s film) to create the kind of weightless sensations more recently synthesized by CGI." The Ringer
"As on his 1966 racing film Grand Prix, director John Frankenheimer required all the stunt driving to be done at full speed with no special effects. The results are pleasurably stressful, as reflected in De Niros white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel he was actually in a car going 100mph, with his stunt driver operating the vehicle in the opposite seat." Streamline
"Frankenheimers finely tuned action thriller shows a pretty grim Christmas season in France, but it cant be any more dark than listening to that one relative bring up Isis while everyones trying to eat dinner. Wouldnt you rather shut them up by showing them Jean Reno and Robert De Niro shoot their way through Nice?" Brooklyn
"A cunning spy thriller!" Film.com
"I wasn't prepared to be absolutely blown away by the storytelling, style, character work, and quiet cool that Ronin truly represents. This isn't just a solid late '90s spy thriller, it's a true entry in the espionage annals." Cinapse
