Time again to warm up a cold February weekend with some smoking hot and passionate gypsy jazz. Back once more to the Brink Lounge in Madison Wisconsin, Harmonious Wail presents and WORT welcomes The 2020 Midwinter Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest.

Your hosts and a Madison favorite, The Wail is now in it's 33rd year and has been the host of the MGSF for almost two decades. Maggie, Sims and Jeffo have taken this thing called Harmonious Wail and completely supercharged it with undeniably intoxicating energy.

Debi Botos
From an early age, Debi Botos has cultivated an interest in Hungarian Gypsy music (where she was born). Now 23, as a self taught musician, Debi continues to explore and experiment with the sounds of the Legendary Django Reinhardt. Through gigging around the Toronto Circuit and growing up in a very musical Botos Family, she has found a sound that is both contemporary and an homage to the Greats. Debi has had amazing opportunities to meet and play with some of the most influential musicians in this style. Incorporating colourful and inventive sounds from her Hungarian Gypsy roots to the music of Django Reinhardt, she is creating a beautiful fusion of swing and free improvisational music. She will be joined by her family and good friends on stage singing and playing authentic Hungarian Gypsy folk music as well, all with a jazzy twist. Ever-evolving, Debi has written multiple compositions (that she will be debuting) infusing both these styles and creates a moving yet very enjoyable atmosphere that feel electric, traditional yet modern and continues to amaze her audiences at venues and concert halls across the country.

Alfonso Ponticelli & Swing Gitan
Chicago's premier Gypsy-jazz band.
The music of Alfonso Ponticelli & Swing Gitan is a vibrant, upbeat and passionate blend of American Jazz, Gypsy jazz, Flamenco and world folk music threaded together through virtuostic improvisation. Composer and band leader Ponticelli invites some of Chicagos top talent for musical conversation and an always lively dose of some of the best spontaneous co-arranging, with top artists including the current lineup:
Ana Everling and Luiz Ewerling (married but different spellings) Ana (vocals/guitar) is from Moldova, a band leader, also sings in Portuguese, French, Romanian, Spanish, English! Perfectly BTW!!
Luiz is from Brazil and plays with Howard Levy now, Howard is playing some of his compositions too. Luiz is a top percussionist/composer and also plays Brazilian guitar, a joyful, soulful musician and human!
Stephanie Pielok (violinist) is from France of Polish decent, and a fantastic musician with perfect tone and pitch, spirited and plays folk and classical music, also a bit of an historian on classical music, a real gem!!
Andrea Falcone (married to Stephanie) plays accordion and guitar an historian of Italian music and singer. Leading with his wife the Italian mambo band that plays regularly and Gypsy jazz too - La Tosca Chicago. Andrea is a spirited musician bringing the true joy of music and entertainment particular to his Italian roots! He also speaks and sings French and at times is seen playing his tambourine and singing a tarantella like from the 1500s, the real deal!
Alfonso Ponticelli is just happy to surround himself with talented and soulful people and plays some guitar as well. He will lead this gathering of musicians on a journey around the glob through music and stories specially tailored for the Madison based fans who will fill the house no doubt once again!! Grazie.....
