The U.S. Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp as Remembered by World War II U.S. Army Veteran, Dick Connuck
Anna Smulowitz presents the U.S. Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp as remembered by World War II U.S. Army Veteran, Dick Connuck.
In honor of Veterans Day and in remembrance of Kristallnacht, Dick will speak about his experience as a young GI liberating the first concentration camp to be constructed by the Nazis near Munich in Bavaria. He will show slides of Dachau from the spring of 1945, and there will be a brief talk back and reception.
The name Kristallnacht ("Crystal Night") comes from the shards of broken glass that littered the streets after the windows of Jewish-owned stores, buildings and synagogues were smashed on November 9 &10, 1938 in Nazi Germany.
