Bohemian Highway, Ira Marlowe
Great songwriting meets indie folk, Americana and fine vocal harmonies!
Bohemian Highway is an Americana band based in Sonoma County playing original music. The band is fronted by the husband and wife songwriting duo of Doug Blumer and Nancy Irish. Doug has had a long and productive musical career (with bands, like the Westerlies) and in San Francisco for over 30 years before he and Nancy relocated to the North Bay a few years ago. Nancy, a long-time songwriting collaborator, joined the live show a decade ago. Since then, they have gained an enthusiastic audience and radio airplay in greater Santa Rosa region. Their music is joyous and uplifting with an emphasis on harmonies and captivating arrangements. They will be joined on this performance by band members Kent and Jane Fossgreen on electric bass, saxophone & percussion.
Ira Marlowe, who writes across a wide range of styles and themes, has been compared to everyone from Tom Waits to Tom Lehrer. With material that swings from funny to moody to poignant to political, he's taught songwriting at UC Berkeley and penned the tunes for four shows by the Tony-winning SF Mime Troupe. In 2012 he opened the The Monkey House, an intimate performance space in Berkeley. His latest project is The Unseen World, a stage musical currently in pre-production.
