Uptown Fridays: Body Language
Head to Harlem for the Studio Museum's Uptown Fridays! Uptown Fridays is a series of summer parties at the Studio Museum in Harlem that places attendees in direct dialogue with current exhibitions. This installment, titled Body Language, will feature an opening set by Sol Nova and a closing set by Juliana Huxtable (House of Ladosha). Abbe Schriber, curator of Body Language hosts.
Juliana Huxtable is a nightlife princess (Frankie Sharp's WESTGAY, Ladyfag's ELEVENELEVEN, BRCDBR & Ladyfag's SHADE), former legal assistant with the ACLU, tumblr queen/Internet addict, writer and critic, video girl (LE1F, Invitation to a Beheading)and member of artist collective House of Ladosha.
Tiffany Nova, DJing under the moniker Sol Nova, is an art history major at Smith College and summer 2013 communications intern at the Studio Museum. Teaching herself how to DJ in high school and purchasing her first pair of decks just last summer, she has quickly gained experience and recognition for her skills. She is a board member of Smith's radio station WOZQ 91.9FM, and has opened for rappers LE1F and Mykki Blanco. "My goal as a DJ is to constantly push boundaries and do cross-cultural and cross-generational explorations," she says. "My sets range from house to rap, dembow to techno, all while keeping people dancing and constantly surprised."
