Spiral Living Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the Illinois Valley since 2006. The Spiral Living Centers mission is to create a sustainable, self-sufficient community in the Illinois Valley.
SLC relies on volunteers like you, who share their skills as class instructors, project leaders and helpers at a variety of workshops, presentations, and skill-sharing demonstrations featuring rural living skills. Past programs have covered harvesting and preparing wild edibles, strawbale construction, designing and planting food forests, raising goats and chickens, grafting, gardening, bicycle repair, and off-the grid power systems. Projects include KXCJ-LPFM radio, IV Gleaning Project, the Biochar Project, Takilma Tool & Book Library, IV Bikespace, and events such as the Illinois Valley Farm and Garden Festival, Selma Skillshare, Frog Farm Skillshare, Fix-it Fair, and the Spring Seed Swap. Board members will be on hand at the dinner to discuss Spiral Living Centers programs and projects.
