Too Much Information: Provincetown Women's Week Edition featuring Julie Novak
During Women's Week in Provincetown, TMI Project is running a special edition of its Page-to-Stage memoir writing workshop. On Saturday, October 19th, the workshop will culminate in "Too Much Information," an evening of true, workshopped monologues, directed by Eva Tenuto. Lesbian comedian Julie Novak will open with a monologue of her own.
The performance will take place at Sage Inn & Lounge at 336 Commercial St Provincetown, MA 02657. Julie Novak opens at 7:30 pm, followed by workshop participants at 8pm. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
About"Too Much Information":
"I hope this isn't TMI, but..." How many times have we all been on either end of a conversation that began that way? For some reason, sharing TMI, "Too Much Information," tends to be a guilty pleasure for both divulger and divulgee. On both ends, there's something incredibly cathartic and connective about revealing our deepest and darkest. We at TMI Project are inclined to believe it's actually good for us all, so no reason to feel guilty. We believe that knowing we all share similarly difficult secrets increases our compassion for one another, in our communities and in the world. That's the philosophy behind "Too Much Information," our production of non-fiction monologues written by the women who perform them.
The personal is universal, and by sharing the parts of stories many of us typically leave out for public consumption our writers/performers help to reveal common threads in all our lives. The secret parts are the ones we most long to share and hear. In telling and hearing them, we get connected. In our experience, storyteller and viewer alike leave the show with a new understanding of their experiences, and a new openness. We've heard on many occasions that audience members share juicy morsels in car rides home that they never would have discussed otherwise.
