Murder on West Moon Street
Winter Comedy: "Murder on West Moon Street"
Created by Rob Urbinati; Directed by Kathy Currie
Young Lord Arthur is deliriously happy just finished at Oxford and engaged to be married when a mysterious palm reader predicts that he will commit a murder. A proper English gentleman, Arthur believes it is his duty to get this killing business over with before he marries. But his education has not provided him with the required skills, and a hilarious series of mishaps ensues as he sets about finding a victim.
Based on Oscar Wildes short story, "Lord Arthur Saviles Crime," this is a clever mystery, written to indict the fate industry with whom late-19th-century aristocrats seemed so enthralled. Rob Urbinati has used the story, with its dramatic twists and turns, as a blueprint for this show.
One critic wrote, Lord Arthur Saviles crime is, in the end, a treatise on the fears that unravel us in the wake of marriage and the equations we make between domestic serenity and death. Join us for the fun-making!
