The Business of Writing for Children & Young Adults
Kidlit publishing can be a mysterious business. In this 90-minute session, youll receive an overview on the basics to help new writers understand the traditional publishing process.
Topics will include agents, big and small publishers, resources, querying format, and professional organizations. We will not cover self-publishing.
This workshop will be led by Stacy McAnulty, author of over 20 books for young readers, including THE MISCALCULATIONS OF LIGHTNING GIRL, chapter book series The Dino Files and GoldieBlox, and picture books including EXCELLENT ED, 101 REASONS WHY I'M NOT TAKING A BATH, and BEAUTIFUL. Her three nonfiction picture books for children, SUN, EARTH, and MOON, are all bestsellers for Bookmarks. Her newest middle grade novel is THE WORLD ENDS IN APRIL. A former mechanical engineer, Stacy writes about math and science with authority.
