JUST PLOWBOYS
This is the remarkable story of the 1970 Farmer High School Baseball Team that faced the Robersonville Rams in the North Carolina 1970 State Championship.
This film is the first of a two part series, the second film, "TWO IN 72", currently in production, tells the story of the 1972 Robersonville High School Baseball and Football Teams that became state champions in 1972 in both sports. Both teams were coached by Nolan Respess.
One of the highlights of JUST PLOWBOYS, is the story of the legendary first game of the championship series, as both pitchers, Glenn Forbes of Robersonville, and Randall Myers of Farmer, went the full 17 innings,--between the two of them, they struck out 45 batters.
JUST PLOWBOYS features over 50 interviews with players and coaches from both teams, fans, sportswriters, and family members, Super 8 and 16mm footage from 1969 and 1970, newspaper articles and hundreds of historical photos.
The players from Robersonville and Farmer have much in common--similar upbringing and family values, the daily passion of playing sports every day growing up, and now that the teams have re-connected via the film, the bond of friendship has been cemented.
