Medicine Songs Workshop and Evening Song Ceremony with Michael Stanton
For as long as I can remember, music has always been medicine for me. Music gives me a tangible way to relate to my inner world of emotion, feeling and imagination. In this way I would say that music is my first language.
Over the years I have been increasingly inspired by the simple ways in which music and song can communicate with the unseen world of spirit, to contact the world of the ancestors, invoke the power of the elementals, and offer our prayers of thanksgiving to the great mystery of life. In my experience, music and song as a vehicle for these spiritual practices is best learned and held in a ritual space, to keep the intention strong and the focus clear. More and more these days I feel called to practice holding a space like this for myself, and also for other people. If this feels like something which speaks to you, then this "workshop" could very well bring a lot of inspiration to you.
After the workshop in the evening I will hold a Song Ceremony, putting into practice some of the songs we will have explored during the day. For sure, there will be people who will come to the Evening Song Ceremony who will not have been with us during the workshop, so those of you who choose to come to both will in a way be helping to hold the Song Ceremony with me.
The workshop is from 2pm till 5pm
The song ceremony is from 7:30pm till 10:30pm
If you plan to come to both the workshop and song ceremony, you are invited to bring some food to share between 5pm and 7pm. It is likely we will do this as a proper blessing together, as the whole day will be focused on prayer.
Tickets for the workshop are £20 or £15 concession
Tickets for the song ceremony are £15 or £10 concession
