Winter Wellness, Winter Wildcrafting
Join Missy and Gradey of the Arctos School as we delve into delve into the medicines and practices of the season. Our outdoor time will look for the clues available even in the depths of winter: How can we identify a tree by its bark and buds? What do the trees and shrubs tell us about the landscape? How do the patterns that emerge guide our practices as herbalists and people who seek relationship with place? To truly understand a place we need to see it in all the seasons. And we need to find ways to give back! We will wildcraft where appropriate and tend where we can, discussing ethics and reciprocity along the way.
Our indoor class time will address the health concerns of the dark months: Well talk about herbs for colds, immune support, and warmth, examining how to choose the right remedy for each condition. In the kitchen, well get hands-on, learning how to make fresh-plant tinctures, effective teas, and tasty remedies. Our conversations will explore practical ways to work medicinal plants into our lives, and everyone will take home medicine that we make in class.
