Afternoon @ the Barn - Broadway And The Blacklist
Hollywood Heritage and The Hollywood Foreign Press Association present "Broadway And The Blacklist", an Afternoon @ the Barn, Sunday, November 10th at 2:00PM.
Author K. Kevyne Baar will discuss the role that the Broadway theater played during the McCarthy Era. At that time many motion picture and television creators were blacklisted for supposed communist ties. There remained, however, a creative outlet that welcomed these artists--the theater.
Her presentation will explore the role theater played during this turbulent period, covering the formation of the Theatre Guild, the Federal Theatre Project and the investigations of the motion picture and television industries by the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). Dr. Baar will be signing copies of her book after the presentation.
