Sista Robi Kahakalau - Atherton Summer Season 2013

Ever since the release of her first Hawaiian Style Band recording in 1992, Kahakalau has held her place as one of Hawai'i's most admired and respected entertainers. Known for her sweet, soulful vocals and luscious harmonies, her multi-cultural and linguistic expertise also place her among the islands' most versatile female vocalists.

"Robi Calling" follows in the footsteps of her three highly acclaimed solo releases, Sistah Robi (1995), Keiki O Ka 'Āina (1997), and All I Want (2000). Staying true to form, Kahakalau once again offers an eclectic assortment of musical styles, ranging from traditional Hawaiian and Tahitian, island contemporary with elements of reggae, and folk, to rock balladry, and even a touch of jazz.

Highlights include a youthful take on the Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau's beautiful "Ke'ala"; "Na Moku 'Eha / Ka Lei E," which blends two traditional Hawaiian songs; the Tahitian language "Tera Mai Te Tiare"; a jazzy take on the ballad "One for My Baby" popularized
