Glasgow Reed Organ Series Concert
Join us for an afternoon of wonderful music featuring renowned ogranists Michael Hendron and Pam Robison.
MICHAEL HENDRON is the Assistant Verger at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and is the current President of the Reed Organ Society. After ten years of piano lessons, Michael began playing the reed organ at age 16, when he and his father restored a Mason & Hamlin parlor organ. Since then, Michael has restored American reed organs for individuals, churches and museums, and has assembled a large collection of music written for the American organ and the European harmonium. For twelve years in Washington, DC, he worked as a decorative arts conservator at the Smithsonian Institution, and sang as a Bass section leader in an Anglican choir. A member of the Reed Organ Society since 1986, he has given numerous solo recitals (several of them under the auspices of the ROS), lectured on the instruments advertising and iconography, and has accompanied concerts of Victorian parlor songs. Since 2009, he has posted over 500 videos of his reed organ performances on YouTube, under the name Mustel1887. His personal collection consists of a Mustel harmonium, built in Paris in 1887, and a Mason & Hamlin chapel organ, built in Boston in 1915.
PAM ROBISON began playing for church at the age of eight on a reed organ, but she didnt really develop an interest in them until her husband Charlie took her to a Reed Organ Society gathering in 1989. Since then she has performedoften with Michael Hendron--at a number of their events. She has a degree in music composition from the University of Central Missouri and a master of arts in religion from Graceland University. She retired as a worship and music support specialist from Community of Christ International Headquarters, but she remains active as a staff organist there, helping to provide music for the Daily Prayer for Peace and the summer daily recital series. She remains active in the Community of Christ denomination, providing ministry in music/drama/preaching. She is also active in the Kansas City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, having served as the registrar from 2010 through 2015.
