Dancing Anatomy Workshop
This fun and accessible workshop led by dancer and kinesiologist Ginger Cox will help dancers bring greater awareness to their alignment. Ginger will share strategies for how to incorporate alignment and awareness practices into warm ups or as a separate study. Some basic, functional exercises will be explored to improve balance and help with overall conditioning. Ginger will also offer corrective exercises for the relief of knee/leg joints and methods to help alleviate discomfort and pain. To help visually contextualize learning, participants will review the anatomy of the hip, knee, and ankle chain. All of the exercises and information is creative, relatable, and supported in evidence. The workshop creates a community of learning that is helpful and supportive. Ginger will present the topics above, we will apply them on our bodies, and perform interactive-exercises that are insightful and fun.
Saturday, November 2, 2019 12:00pm to 3:30pm There will be a 30 minute break for lunch. Attendees are asked to pack their own lunch, water, and snacks.
Ginger Cox is on faculty at Pace University, and Broadway Dance Center (BDC). She received a Masters Degree in Kinesiology from ATSU, and a BFA in Dance, from Temple University, and is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist.
