New Years Day boat trip to Thompson Island
Sponsored by Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands the annual boat trip is the best way to start the New Year! We shall visit Thompson Island with its meadows, forests, beaches and 40 acre salt marsh.
Hilary Lucier, Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center Historian will offer guided tours of the historic campus first built for the Boston Farm School in 1833.
Pack a picnic. There is no food sold on the boat or the island. There will be a building open for warmup space and a book and merchandise sales table. Park policy is no pets and no alcohol.
We will travel on MV Freedom which has three decks and is heated. The trip will depart at 12:00 p.m. sharp and return to the dock at 4:00p.m. Boarding begins at 11:30a.m.
Departs Mass Bay Lines, Rowes Wharf, Boston on the MV Freedom. MBL is behind the Boston Harbor Hotel. Check in with the FBHI volunteers in the ferry terminal. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the trip (Cash only please).
The trip goes rain or shine. If the captain/boat company cancel the trip due to weather conditions Brown Paper Tickets will issue a refund. Park policy is no pets and no alcohol.
