10/27/19 SOLO SUNDAYS
. S O L O S U N D A Y S, San Francisco's premier showcase, presents select samplings of veteran virtuosos and top emerging talent. Beyond stand-up and storytelling, solo theater creates casts of thousands - plus special effects - all bursting from a single performer.
MERI GRUBER --------------------------------- "The Trip to the Rig"
Carcasses, that can't be good. 115 km whats that, about 70 miles? I should have brought some water. The coke's all gone. More bones! Thats not a cow, but it's big. Should I turn back? I've driven over 100km now. In a desert. In a boat of a car. With no water and no idea where this rig is . . . Wait a minute . . . is this one of Frank's little tests?
ANNAMARIE MACLEOD ------------------------------- "Full Fathom Five"
As Annamarie fills out the forms in the pediatrician's waiting room she's surprised to see that the questions are about her - not just her brand new baby - and, yes, she does feel "down" and "hopeless" and "irritable". Or maybe suicidal and full of rage would better describe it. But what happens to moms who can't even "mom"? Will her honesty mean the baby is taken away? And would that actually be the better choice?
SHERRI ROSE ---------------------- "Beyond The Pale - Act One" Once upon a time in the mid-20th century a little girl was born in a small red brick house adjacent to a wood. Her birth was attended by an unseen presence from the Old Country. The Evil Eye! A demented, delightful demon that has haunted her family across generations and across continents. Will she succumb to its control or finally break the bonds of fear and superstition?
CHERRY ZONKOWSKI ---------------------- "Anatomy of a Bad Decision"
The psychiatrist greeted us with the enthusiasm of a TV host at the top of a long, long flight of stairs. My boyfriend--my ex-boyfriend?--my boyfriend--went up those stairs achingly slowly, and butt-first. He had wrecked himself on ketamine and whippets, and I was hoping the blinding white teeth of the psychiatrist would be the light at the end of the tunnel. But all we won on this game show was a trip to the emergency room--a trip that would eventually save my life.
