St Catherine's PTA Lecture 2019 - Relationships & Sex Education
The PTA is delighted to announce this years PTA lecture speaker is Alex Fryer, a partner with 'It happens' who provide educational talks, workshops and training sessions for students, teachers and parents on promoting health relationships and sex education.
Parental involvement is essential for open conversations about these issues to carry on at home. This inclusive session offers you an opportunity to get up to speed with current trends in adolescent behaviours and legislation. The evening will include discussions on:
What to talk about and when
Big questions
Tips for sensitive issues
Signposting and RSE legislation
We hope you will join us for what promises to be an interesting and enlightening evening. The Bar opens at 7pm and the Lecture starts at 7.30pm.

About Alex Fryer
Alex Fryer trained as a nurse at Guys Hospital in 1985 and is now one of the UKs leading PSHE speakers specialising in issues around sex and healthy relationships.
Having enjoyed a wide and varied nursing career, 15 years ago she decided to focus all her attention on sexual health and contraception, an area she has been involved with throughout her nursing career.
Alex has many years of experience providing information to young people, parents and teachers. This has been helped enormously by her own experience as a mother of two, now, grown-up children. Recognising and appreciating the problems and pressures facing young people today with regard to negotiating healthy relationships and safe sex in an increasingly challenging world, has enabled her to develop the necessary skills and sensitivity to communicate effectively with young people. The work she carries out in schools has now extended to teachers and pastoral care teams and over the past years she has also worked at the University of East Anglia as an associate lecturer.
Alex has to date visited around 120 schools throughout the UK most of these now on an annual basis and the numbers continue to grow.
