THIS YEAR'S FINALISTS:

Edward Buckley (performing as Buck T. Edwards) is a multi-talented humorist/singer/songwriter with over 700 titles to his credit. Gravitating early to the vintage sounds of Roger Miller, Dick Curless and Hank Snow Buck soon picked up a guitar and started writing. The winner of song and album of the year at the Pine State Country Music Association awards show, for his debut album "If You Don't Get it by Midnite," Buck pushed on in the studio and released the follow-ups "Loaded Gun," " Release Your Inner Redneck," "All That's Missing is You...," "Kickin' Ass and Takin' Names," and the new release "Great American Novel."

Emilia Dahlin has strong storytelling sensibilities that have carved out a reputation as a unique songstress. She weaves mesmerizing tales with raw, rootsy folk and dynamic jazz vocals. Throughout an eighteen-year musical performing career taking her around the world, she has made Maine her home. Emilia garnered national awards, from Telluride Troubadour, Winner of the Starbucks Music Makers Competition, Winner of Boston Music Conference Songwriting Competition, and the Great Waters Songwriting Contest. She believes music and storytelling are some of the most powerful tools to foster connection between people and create positive social change.

Jenny Lou Drew is a life-long self-taught musician and songwriter. Drew produces and records music in her home studio with her husband Scott Morgan. Together they released their sophomore record, Rockbiter, on August 10 at Portland House of Music and Events. The album is available digitally across platforms and CDs can be found on jennyloudrew.com and at select Bull Moose locations.

Tom Mitchell has been playing guitar since he was 11, but began writing songs in earnest relatively recentlyan endeavor that started mostly with open mics in Brunswick. Tom now plays a number of venues and events in Maine. Drawing on a number of musical influences from folk to jazz to pop and Brazilian music, Tom likes exploring alternate tunings to achieve different voicings and sonorities. Favorite things: the excitement of a new song coming to life, and the feeling of connection to an audience.

Olivia Frances, when she walks on stage, has an infectious positive energy and powerful stage presence which captures a room. After winning four distinguished awards in 2018 alone, this pop/folk artist released her full-length, fan-funded, third album Orchid in June described by the Worcester Telegram & Gazette as irrepressibly sweet  and eminently likable. Blending nature-inspired lyrics with ethereal vocals and organic guitar picking, Francess unique sunshine-story-pop sound is a flowery mix of Colbie Caillats catchy acoustic melodies, Joni Mitchells unique vocal arrangements, and Florence and the Machines energetic, emotive performance.

Rob Ellis, from his first terrifying solo singing performance in 1967, at the tender age of 9, has belted out songs across all musical genres. His love of music started as a child crowded around the piano in his Grandparents' tiny NYC apartment. His songs are honest and heartfelt and Robs tenor voice often lets loose to the accompaniment of angelic backup singers and a host of incredible musicians.
