AAAS 331 ft Special Guest Keith Knight
Keith Knight is a special guest for the Duke University course Dick Gregory and the History of Black Comedy course, taught by Professor Mark Anthony Neal, the James B. Duke Professor of African & African American Studies. The course features guest appearances by professional comedians, critics and screenings of rare and/or classic films.
The 6:15 p.m.-7:30 p.m. class is free and open to the public on Thursdays where it is held at the NorthStar Church of the Arts, a converted church founded by Nnenna and Phil Freelon that serves as a sacred space for healing, creative expression and spiritual connectivity.
Knight is an award-winning cartoonist. His autobiographical work addresses race, family, politics, and current events in a unique style that evokes everything from MAD magazine, P-Funk album art, underground comix and Warner Brothers cartoons. His work has been seen in the New Yorker, the Washington Post, the Funny Times and Daily KOS. He is currently working on the first season of HULUs "Woke," a live-action TV series based on his life and comics.
