Creative Community Loan Models: Part 1 of 2
We'll start this month's conversation about creative community loan models with a lesson from the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies about how communities across the nation are getting creative to fund their local businesses. Bring your lunch, and engage in a lively discussion--whether you are a consumer, investor, entrepreneur, policy-maker, or academic, you will help craft the conversation as we explore how creative community loan models can contribute to the vibrancy of our region.
One week later, on January 14th, we'll dive deeper into how creative community loan models are working in our region with a happy hour panel discussion featuring local experts and case studies: www.brownpapertickets.com/event/440822
For the best value, buy a series pass to all Community Capital: Seattle events, which run through the end of April, 2014: www.brownpapertickets.com/event/480225
The series will also explore cooperatives; local investment clubs; crowdfunding, CSAs, and pre-sales; community banks, credit unions, and CDFIs; and Direct Public Stock Offerings as ways to move money into our local economy. More info available at www.seattlenetwork.org/commcap.
Many thanks to our series sponsors: Bainbridge Graduate Institute, BECU, and Central Co-op; our topic sponsor, Southeast Effective Development; and a number of generous in-kind sponsors.
