February 13-15, 2020 The Phoenix Theater 2605 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55408
Named for the practice of burning a prairie to promote new growth, Controlled Burn is a space for queer rage, revolution, and reclamation, aimed at regeneration. An intersectional space for queer performers, especially artists of color and with disabilities, Controlled Burn is a cabaret festival curated by the fiercely talented Taja Will, Ondine and Marcela Michelle. This special three-night event will feature a different line-up each evening.
Controlled Burn was originally created in 2016 by Patrick's Cabaret, a queer-led performance art incubator founded in Minneapolis in 1986. When Patrick's Cabaret completed its sunset in 2018, the organization entrusted the programs continuation to 20% Theatre Company.
