Mixed Magic Theatre 2013/2014 Season Subcriptions
Mixed Magic Theatre is proud to present its exciting 2013-2014 Season!
The season kicks off in September with JESUS HOPPED THE 'A' TRAIN, the critically-acclaimed contemporary drama by Stephen Adly Guirgis. That production will be directed by Mixed Magic's Artistic Director Jonathan Pitts-Wiley and will feature Rudy Cabrera, Kate Ambrosini, Edward V. Crews, Jason Quinn and Rich Morra. The season then moves into classical territory in November with Shakespeare's OTHELLO featuring Mixed Magic founder Ricardo Pitts-Wiley.
In February, the Company will explore the struggles, triumphs and realities of African-American womanhood through poetry and movement with Ntozake Shange's contemporary classic FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO CONSIDER SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF.
Rounding out the season on a somewhat lighter note will be Yasmina Reza's raucous, award-winning GOD OF CARNAGE, a comedy about two sets of parents, one playground incident, and a meeting that proves that some parents behave no better than their children.
The season will also include a number of special events, highlighted by original works. December will bring Ricardo Pitts-Wiley's adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN to the stage at Providence's Veterans auditorium. In January, FATE COMES KNOCKING will explore the lives of the men and women who supported Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement. NIGHT VOICES, an evening of original poetry and music, and ARISE SOUTH AFRICA, a reader's theater series featuring the work of Athol Fugard, will also take beginning in January.
