Volti's next concert, "Almost Speechless," explores the voice as an instrument.
We will premiere Tomorrow's Dream Not the Same, the newest work from our resident composer Mark Winges. Rhythmic, lively and incredibly exciting, it allows us to experience vocal music without the overlay of text.
Tonia Ko's newest work, Starting Places, will also receive its premiere. Ko uses fragments of text generated by members of Volti about places weve called home. The words appear only occasionally in a vocal texture of vowel and consonant sounds.
We are very excited to bring back Zibuokle Martinaityte's Chant des Voyelles, which we commissioned in 2018 and will record for our next album. And finally, we will reprise Danny Clay's improvisatory Playbook Choruses, which are also wordless creations.
Join us -- we will be almost speechless and we hope to leave you that way!
The program will also be presented Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Noe Valley Ministry, San Francisco 8:00 PM.
