Frank Buxton Silent Film Festival Member-Only Passes
Silent film was never really silent. BIMA is proud to present the second annual Frank Buxton Silent Film Festival. Buckle-up for a cinematic journey exploring the pleasures, history and lost art of silent film presented with live musical accompaniment. Produced in partnership with the San Francisco Silent Film Festival.

WEEKEND PROGRAM
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15 - 7:30pm - The Cameraman (1928) Directed by Edward Sedgwick and Buster Keaton, this film features Keaton as a clumsy man who trades his tintype operation for a movie camera all for the sake of love. Live musical accompaniment by Miles & Karina. Includes opening reception.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 16 - 11am-1pm - Georges Méliès Shorts Collection of shorts featuring the work of Georges Méliès, a French illusionist and film director who pioneered technical and narrative developments in the earliest days of cinema.
- 2pm - San Francisco Film Festival Shorts A collection of early European silent films curated by Rob Byrne at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival in collaboration with Eye Films Amsterdam. Live musical accompaniment by Miles & Karina.
- 7pm - A Story of Floating Weeds (1935) By Yasujiro Ozu, the story of an aging actor who returns to a small town with his troupe and reunites with his former love and illegitimate son. Live musical accompaniment and Japanese/English benshi narration by Aono Jikken Ensemble.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17 - 11am-1pm - Georges Méliès Shorts Encore showing, same as Saturday.
- 5pm - Signal Tower (1924) Directed by a former auto engineer, Clarence Brown, The Signal Tower is the story of a tower signalman and his family on a lonely mountain railroad. Live musical accompaniment by Andrew Shields.
- 7pm - The Eyes of the Totem (1926) This haunting feature was shot on the streets of Tacoma, WA in 1926 by H.C. Weaver Studios and lost for decades.
