Mary Foster Conklin & Mark Winkler Find The Sweet Spot On Route 66
Mary Foster Conklin and Mark Winkler happily reunite to pay tribute to the two West Coast composers that first brought them together -- Bobby Troup and Matt Dennis - plus share an assortment of Winkler originals and other favorites. Mark has a brand new CD "I'm With You" a collection of freshly re-imagined Troup songs. Mary will revisit her Matt Dennis tribute Blues For Breakfast and sing tunes from recent projects. These jazz singers are a natural fit and the hip factor is always off the charts. The two haven't shared a stage in several years so this evening is guaranteed to be a special event.
Mark Winkler is a platinum award winning singer/lyricist whose songs have been recorded by Dianne Reeves, Liza Minnelli and Steve Tyrell, among others. He was included as a Rising Star Male Jazz Vocalist in Downbeat Magazine in 2018. A connoisseur of all things cool, Mark has an enduring affinity for the great Bobby Troup, who Winkler pays homage to in his latest album "I'M WITH YOU", a gathering of freshly re-imagined Troup songs. Vocalist and radio host Mary Foster Conklin is an old school song hound and a master storyteller. A multi-Bistro and MAC award winner, Mary has performed throughout the United States and Canada and currently hosts a weekly radio show on WFDU-FM HD2 called A Broad Spectrum which highlights women composers and lyricists now in its fourth year. Her latest CD, PHOTOGRAPHS, a memory piece of standards and contemporary tunes, was released in 2016 to critical acclaim.
