Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District every third Friday of the month. Showcasing an eclectic mix of intelligent comedians from the Bay Area and beyond, the event was created in order to bring back to life a comedy show that used to take place at El Rio in the 1980s and 1990s. The Bay Area Reporter (BAR) recently named the show Best Comedy Night for the second consecutive year.
The Friday October 18th show is a benefit for Lewy Body Dementia research under the auspices of the American Brain Foundation as a tribute to the late Robin Williams. Its part of a week of benefits organized by Vallejo Times Herald Arts and Entertainment Editor, Rich Freedman.
The show features Emily van Dyke, Pippi Lovestocking, Bob McIntyre, Alexandria Love, and Lisa Geduldig.
Emily van Dyke, originally from the Midwest, loves pools and telling inappropriate stories at BBQs. Emily has performed standup and sketch comedy in SF Sketchfest, was the winner of the Walk the Plank Comedy Competition, and her comedy dating show Flirting with Laughter won "Best Tinder Alternative" in San Francisco Magazine. She is the mother of a newborn.
Pippi Lovestocking, a living legend of the San Francisco underground club scene, has been in showbiz for three decades. With a breakout appearance on Last Comic Standing, she has credits on HBO, Netflix and CBS, among others.
Bob McIntyre, a favorite at Comedy Returns to El Rio, is a San Francisco-based waiter, comic, and occasional actor who is currently binge watching his recently purchased 38-disc, 325-episode Mary Hartman Mary Hartman box set. He currently sees everything in shades of avocado green, mustard yellow, and burnt orange with a waxy yellow buildup. He is single.
Alexandria Love is a comedian and writer from Oakland who has been featured at clubs and festivals all over California and beyond including SXSW, SF Sketchfest, Comedy Day, and the Out of Bounds Festival in Austin. She was featured in the SFists list of top comedians in San Francisco and was called a stand out by the SF Chronicle. You can find all of her musings at https://hereswhythatsfunny.com
