Hallowed Ground: Stories for the Season
TICKETS FOR TONIGHT AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR!!!
Mika Deslongchamps and Rick Wamer join forces to create a delightfully spirited performance of Dance Theatre and Mime for the Season of All Hallows Eve at the Vail Theatre of the Arts in Tucson, October 29 and 30, 2019, at 7:00 pm each evening.
Mika brings her gift of dance and theatre since her days of dancing as a child, and Rick Wamer brings his iconic mime artistry to this all ages performance.
The evening will feature Mika Deslongchamps with an ensemble cast of nine dancers in several newly devised pieces such as DANCE MACABRE, a dance about how the jack-o-lantern fits in with modern society and walks the line between its scary history and desire for light, INFERNA, a suite of dance solos, and RAVEN, a piece intertwining dance and mime that interprets the famed Edgar Allan Poe poem, that will have Rick joining the ensemble.
Vail audiences that have seen Rick Wamer perform in Ballet Rincons annual Nutcracker have been asking to see his theatrical mime work for some time and theyre in for a treat. His work is not what American audiences are used to seeing, especially when it comes to mime. Hell reprise his solo piece commissioned by the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE, to the Paul Dukas score that most people know from the Disney film, FANTASIA. In the piece he plays the Sorcerer, the Apprentice, and, the Broom. A rigorous score is matched by a high energy performance.
Rick will also perform his rendition of local artist Grant Bashores memorable work DRACULA, and present a Tucson debut of THE BALLOON MAN'S NIGHTMARE, with Mika's ensemble performing with Rick as a balloon vendor selling his wares in a park that is not what it appears to be. The famed Marcel Marceau and long-time mentor of Rick Wamer, once spoke of Wamers performance abilities as, an impressive depth of interpretation and heart.
Tickets are limited for this two-night only special event performance. Come and enjoy a hallowed evening sharing this unique story telling through the beauty of movement that speaks worlds of meaning.
